10 Events To Go To In June
The sun is out and the city has come back to life; summer in Brighton has officially begun! Being the arty city that Brighton is, though, there's no time to slow down. Take a quick breath after the hectic month of May and get ready to dive into even more fabulous events coming up in June.
Thursday 1st June: 7:45pm, tickets £8
Bingo with a twist! Instead of regular bingo-lingo expect each draw to be accompanied by a musical number. Each round takes on a different theme of song choices, either based on a decade, genre or just just a quirky random topic.
Friday 2nd June: 8pm, free
For an evening of laid back and quintessentially summer tunes, look no further than The Black Dove’s night of 60s ska and reggae classics. What could be better than a beautifully hand crafted cocktail teamed with the sounds of the Caribbean?
Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June: 10am - 5pm, tickets £5 day ticket or £8 weekend
With 170 stalls, 15 world food caterers, all day talks and cookery demos, the Vegan Summer Festival is bound to reignite your passion for cooking and may even turn a few carnivores once they savour some scrumptious vegan delights. Calling all you Brighton foodies!
Sunday 4th June: 7pm, tickets £12
An evening of queer and gay friendly comedy hosted by Zoe Lyons and featuring headliners Angela Barnes, Laura Lexx and Abigoliah Schamaun. Guaranteed to be an evening packed with rip roaring laughs and positive vibes.
Thursday 8th June: 8pm, tickets £5 (advanced)
This queer drag and cabaret spectacular is here for a snap election special to embellish the election results in their own fabulous way. Whether you're celebrating or commiserating the result, join Le Freakshow for a night to remember.
Friday 9th June: 11pm, free
This Brighton Girl favourite is back! Get your glad rags on and head down the Green Door Store for a night of 90s and 00s R&B throw back tunes that you can sing your heart out to. Be prepared to dance the night away - and quite possibly lose your voice!
Sunday 11th June: 10am - 5pm, free
With summer having officially landed, it is high time to revamp your wardrobe and the kilo sale is the perfect excuse. Have a rummage to find that new summer staple or stand out item. Entry is free but if you are feeling confident in your rummaging skills you can pre purchase a kilo for £12.
Brighton Naked Bike Ride 2017 @ The Level
Sunday 11th June: 12pm-4pm, free
Its back! One of Brighton's most iconic and memorable annual events - the naked bike ride! Riders set off from The Level and follow a route around the city. Celebrating cycling, bodies and fighting back against car culture. Be prepared to see some fabulous outfits, or lack there of!
Saturday 17th June: 8pm, tickets £8
Kyla La Grange is a self taught singer song-writer who returns to Brighton as part of her summer tour. With a distinctive electro sound that has gained Kyla much acclaim, her performance at The Hope and Ruin will be quirky and packed with attitude.
Friday 23rd June: 11pm, tickets £7-9
Worried About Henry brings the legendary Channel One sound system to Brighton’s The Arch. Channel One was founded by Mikey Dread and his brother Jah T and named in homage of the legendary Jamaican music label. Playing bass heavy dancehall, dubstep, jungle, old skool and reggae until 4am with special guests. Not to be missed!
