10 alternative Brighton Pride events
It's the event of the year and Brighton will be buzzing, but there is more to Pride than the parade and the official events (find our top official picks here). While these are all guaranteed good-times, we thought we would bring you some alternative options you won't want to miss.
Tuesday 1st August: 7pm-10pm, free
Do you know your Mamma Mia from your Chiquitita? Your somewhere over the rainbow's from your YMCA? Test out your knowledge at the Hare and Hound's quiz to get ready to celebrate Pride. Teams can be a maximum of six, so pick your teammates wisely...
Wednesday 2nd August: 7.30pm-10pm, £15
Join host Spice for a comedy cabaret that will truly get you in the spirit of all things Pride. With performances from comedian Zoe Lyons and the Actually Gay Men's Chorus, get ready to be rolling in the aisles. All proceeds from the night will go towards MindOut which helps local LGBTQ+ persons with mental health matters. Spread the love.
Thursday 3rd August: 7pm-12am, free
Cafe Plenty will be hosting a queer alternative Brighton Pride weekend for those that want a quieter atmosphere. Artists will be exhibiting their work for the duration of the weekend, starting with an early viewing party. Get ready for a night of art, music, queerness, and genuine queer pride herstory.
Friday 4th August: 7pm-2am, free
Prepare yourself for the weekend ahead with a fabulous evening of pampering, art and music. Treat yourself to a glitter makeover, manicure or a massage whilst raising money for the Terrence Higgins Trust in the process.
Friday 4th August: 7pm-10.30pm, £4 adv
The Pride edition of FemRock is set to be a special one with performances from Grace Petrie, El Morgan and Winnaretta. Kick off the Pride Weekend in style and dance away the evening with some bodacious babes.
Saturday 5th August: 10am-12pm, £20
Treat yourself to a boozy start to the day right by the sea with brunch at the Tempest Inn. Choose either a meaty or veggie breakfast and wash it down with as many Bloody Mary's or Mimosas you think you can handle. Just make sure you reserve your table!
Saturday 5th August: 10pm-2am, £5 + booking fee
This is one for the vegans, it is Brighton after all. Wonderful vegan pizza at Purezza is still available as usual throughout the day, but in the nighttime, it will transform into a dancefloor for one night only. Expect deep house and, if you arrive before 1, free pizza.
Saturday 5th August: 2pm-8pm, £5
Party in the daytime right by the beach at Concorde 2 where you'll be treated to the talents of some of Brighton's finest DJs. Put on your dancing shoes and be prepared to tear up their outdoor terrace.
Sunday 6th August: 9pm-10pm, Free
Finish off Pride Weekend with a bang at the firework display at the iconic Palace Pier. Maybe even treat yourself to a portion of chips, or two.
Sunday 6th August: 1.30pm-6pm, £27.50
Celebrate Pride a little differently this year by riding the waves at a boat party. Cruise along the seafront as you dance to the beats played by the on board DJs. Hello, sailor.
