Events for all Brighton Girls in April
Spring is on it's way and we can't wait! Now we've battled through the Beast from the East and the clocks have sprung forward, we can now enjoy more daylight, sunshine and warmth! Here's a list of events going on in Brighton this April, which we think you'll love!
1st april - Bent Double
Komedia, 19:30, £13
Described as "A gay-friendly, irreverent night of fun and frolics ", Komedia hosts it's show Bent Double on the first Sunday of every month. April's line up consists of: Zoe Lyons (Compere), Mary Bourke (Headliner), Chelsea Hart (Support) and Abi Roberts (Support) - start your April off right with some good drink and a lot of laughs! 3rd-5th April - A Flea in her Ear
The Old Market Theatre, £15, 19:30
Fancy a bit of theatre in your life this April? The plot reminds me a little of ITV's drama Doctor Foster - a suspicious wife, trying to catch her cheating husband out... but this theatre performance is a little more humorous than Doctor Foster's experiences. Described as "Blissfully Funny" (Paul Taylor, The Independent), this theatre performance is not one to miss!
12th April - Brighton Girl Fundraiser Gig x QM Records
The Walrus, £6 online - £8 on the door, from 8pm
The incredible team over at QM Records are throwing Brighton Girl a fundraiser gig, helping us to raise the essential costs needed to keep Brighton Girl and the whole of the City Girl Network going. The night will take place all night at The Walrus on Thursday 12th April with a series of amazing acts (Sweetmates, The Hush, & more to be announced!) that QM Records love to champion. Celebrate two years of Brighton Girl, dance to some great live music and support us on our mission to help young women call their cities home. Buy your ticket here.
13th april - Women's Empowerment Charity Gig
Komedia, £5, 19:00
A fun filled line-up of local and national artists, performing popular female ballads to promote the importance of empowering woman. With Pussy Liquor headlining the evening, as well as Judie Mayne and Sarah Murray performing their original songs, Komedia is donating all money raised to three separate charities (disclosed on the ticket once purchased. 14th april - Nothing To Hide Charity Art Exhibition
Mandela Hall, University of Sussex, £4.25, 14:00 - 18:00
Art has been created and is being displayed from a range of artists across the UK in the spirit of spreading mental health awareness and showing that mental illness is nothing to hide. Come along to support the charity and the artists who have worked hard to create their contributions. Buy tickets here.
18th April - Candoco Dance Company: Face In / Let's Talk About Dis
Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, £15, 20:00
Candoco Dance Company is a company of disabled and non-disabled performers. Treating us to two performances on the 18th April, they'll be performing Yasmeen Godder's Face In, and Hetain Patel's Let's Talk About Dis. Through their performance they will encourage you to think beyond surface appearances, exposing hidden prejudices and absurd political correctness. Buy yourself a ticket here.
19th April - Musical Bingo
Komedia, £8, 19:00
Last year the Brighton Girls were treated to a table at Musical Bingo and had a fabulous time, full of dancing, cheesy music and a monumental amounts of giggles. This April's edition of Musical Bingo will be led by the hilarious host of the evening, Ditzy Ritzy, introducing rounds on the night such as ‘International Bangerz’ and everybody’s favourite ‘Dance Crazes’. 24th April - GozenGirls Review Party BookClub: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
The Farm Tavern, 19:30, £3 / £4
April's edition of GozenGirl's Review party is coming up, hosted by a wonderful Brighton Girl, Donna. The great thing about GozenGirls book club, is you don't actually have to read the book to come along to the event and get involved. On the 24th April, GozenGirls will be discussing Elizabeth Gilbert's book Big Magic focusing on attitudes, approaches, and habits we need in order to live our most creative lives. 28th April - Funny Women at Komedia

Every last Saturday of the month Komedia fills it's doors with audiences to see the newest and most exciting female stand up in the UK, from the Funny Women Awards and beyond.
