Brighton is home to some of the best restaurants in the UK, so finding somewhere to go for dinner on date night is both a delight and a chore. A delight as you know you’ll be eating out somewhere great, but a chore as there are so many options out there! We’ve narrowed down our favourites into 5 places you’re sure to get a fantastic meal, regardless of the occasion.

The Coal Shed

This is an obvious choice for any Brightonians but outside of Brighton The Coal Shed isn’t as well known. Boasting the best steak in Brighton they definitely live up to expectations. The setting is fancy, but not omg I don’t know what to do with my hands fancy, if you know what I mean. An intimate setting with friendly staff to put you at ease if you’re on a first date or to simply have a chat with about their impressive menu!

La Choza @ The Hare & Hounds

La Choza are an award winning Mexican restaurant serving street style food. They have a restaurant in the North Laine but popping down to The Hare & Hounds for a burrito over a drink with your date can ease your nerves and calls for a much more relaxing setting.

Casa Don Carlos

This little tapas restaurant, Casa Don Carlos, is tucked away on a busy street in the lanes. It’s a family run operation and the owner is always present, having a wander around the tables making sure everybody is enjoying their evening. It’s cheap and cheerful and the atmosphere is authentic. It’s a great little informal setting, and they even sometimes have a Spanish guitarist playing tunes.

If you’re a sushi novice, heading to Moshimo is a great idea for a fun date night where you can try new things and be adventurous! Even if you’re a sushi lover, there’s always something new to try on the menu so why not give that a go? The waiters in this place know the menu inside out and are always on hand to help you decide what you want to eat.

The Chilli Pickle

The Chilli Pickle is just one of those restaurants that you could revisit every week and never get bored. Low lighting, candles, nice music, good food – what more could you want for date night?
