Rural Sussex Girl Book Club (Mid Sussex)

Rural Sussex Girl, Book Club is back!

This month we are hosting the Mid-Sussex Book Club at The Watermill Inn, Wivelsfield on Tuesday 7th May.

The book of choice is Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.

The venue have kindly agreed that we can bring in food to eat, if we wish to, as they do not serve hot food. There are several take aways next door (Fish and Chips, Chinese and Thai), so please pick up any food you wish to eat and bring it along. Drinks served at the venue.

Our book clubs aren’t a serious affair. They’re just a nice opportunity to get together in a relaxed space and have a chat in small groups. We’ll give you a list of questions – shared before the event so you know what to expect – and your group can choose how you use them.

There have been so many long-lasting friendships made by our book clubs – it’s such a special event!

Tickets include a non-refundable community fee.

Where you can find the book

The book is readily available everywhere! You can find one at your local library, ask our Book Club group if anyone’s able to lend you a copy, or buy it from local bookstores like City Books.

We have a few affiliate relationships with booksellers. If you choose to buy from them, we’d love it if you can buy them through our links below!

Rural Sussex Girl Murder Mystery Dinner

Rural Sussex Girl Murder Mystery Dinner

Dear RSG, The year is 1986. The venue is an historic estate on the edge of town named **The Craven Gray Manor.

Wicked things have happened at the manor over the years, so some say the property may be cursed. Others claim the owners are starting the rumors to encourage thrill-seekers to visit the town and dare to stay at the property.

Who knows the truth?

Nevertheless, Ridley Barnabet recently inherited the family fortune and wishes to catapult the manor to become a local hot-spot and travel destination. Ridley has sent out exclusive invitations for a VIP bash. The town gossips are on fire with rumors of what will happen on this night when the who’s who of the town will be gathered together.

On another note, there is a buzz that the mysterious society, The Clear, might be involved with the event. The Clear is a top-secret social order that nobody knows for sure exists, but everyone chats about and spreads tales about how they control the world and all of its headlines.

Could The Clear be behind this event? Only time will tell - or would time even spill the secret?

You’ve received an invitation to the gathering at the manor. This is where your story begins….

**The Craven Gray Manor is the fictional venue. The venue is The Oak Barn in a private space.

£30 will be taken off your final bill. Please ensure you choose a minimum of two courses from the attached menu and email across to steph@citygirlnetwork at least a week prior. Please note that any difference in your meal will need to be covered on the night.

Please see the menu options here.

You will be sent your character instructions & costume ideas via email in advance of the event.

Rural Sussex Girl Spring Retreat

Join CJYoga and our RSG host Jasmine for a Spring Retreat afternoon at Tranquility Yoga 🧘🏻‍♀️💜

The walk is an opportunity to chat and connect while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Ashdown Forest.

We’ll enjoy a cuppa and a sweet treat before we settle in for a guided meditation and restorative yoga; during which we’ll take support from bolsters so we can get the maximum impact from the poses with none of the effort!

Rural Sussex Girl Autumnal Bloom Afternoon

Taking inspiration from our love of cosy autumn vibes we invite you to join us at Tranquility Yoga Studio, Uckfield for an afternoon of Yoga and flower arranging!

BellaJune Florist will be helping us to create our own Pumpkin arrangement just in time for Halloween.

We'll have a short break to admire our handy work, sip some tea and munch on a few autumnal snacks before we settle into a restorative yoga practice guided by Caz, CJYoga.

We will explore some simple breathing techniques to aid relaxation, and take some soft yoga-based movements as well as restorative yoga to restore the parasympathetic nervous system, bringing balance and allowing the body and mind to rest and relax so that you can leave feeling refreshed, and peacefully energised

Restorative yoga requires using cushions to support the body so that we can get all the benefits of the poses without much effort; we spend time making sure we can feel really comfortable and rest in each position. Its very beginner friendly!
